This tree flourishes in hot climates and countries with such conditions so the Middle East as well as the Mediterranean are the most suitable habitats for this plant. This crop is usually harvested in September and October. This tree can also withstand a range of temperatures in the winter and summer.
They thrive best in warm moist environments. On average, a typical pistachio tree will produce about 50 kg (110 lbs). However, this can vary according to the climate, conditions and weather of that particular year. The tree can grow to roughly 10 m (30 ft) and the shells of the nuts are generally a beige colour.
After plantation, these trees can take approximately 7 to 10 years to achieve a significant crop and harvest.
